Viens was painted after a journey that almost didn't happen. Shortly before Christmas,I suffered a herniated disc and had to cancel my plans of spending the holidays with my family. Then, unexpectedly, a friend invited me to Mexico. Faced with a twelve-and-a-half-hour flight, a fear of flying, and every reason to stay home, I wasn't sure whether I should go. Before I left, my orthopaedist smiled and said, “I can't look into a crystal ball. I don't know whether you'll be better or worse there. But I'm all for living life to the fullest.”
Those words gave me the courage to say yes. Looking back, that decision became part of my healing. For three weeks, I rested, swam every day, and slowly rediscovered trust in my own body. Viens is an invitation to life itself. It reminds us that fear and uncertainty don't always have to make our decisions for us. Sometimes the most meaningful experiences begin the moment we dare to accept an unexpected invitation.
