Touch began as a very different painting. Originally, it depicted only a breast held almost like a mechanical object—a screw to be adjusted rather than a living part of a human body. It reflected the objectification of women and the way the female body is often reduced to something to be looked at, evaluated or controlled. While preparing this exhibition, I returned to the painting and realized it wasn't finished.

 

I added the small door—a window to the soul and the heart—and the dark hand reaching gently towards the figure. These elements transformed the work. What had once been mechanical became intimate. The body regained its humanity. For me, Touch is about the moment we begin to see one another not as objects or projections, but as whole human beings—worthy of tenderness, complexity and genuine connection.
