Promise was painted during an artist residency in Stockholm, in the middle of winter, when daylight lasted little more than two hours. Crossing the city's bridges each day on my way to the studio, I found myself thinking about the quiet certainty that spring would eventually return. The cool palette reflects that season, while the figures leaning into one another remind me that we rarely move through life's winters alone. Sometimes hope is simply trusting that change is already on its way.
